Women and children are usually the biggest victims of war but their voices are rarely heard in peace negotiations. The United Nations has decided to change that by implementing Security Council Resolution 1820 which acknowledges, for the first time, the use of sexual violence as a war tactic in times of conflict.

Hopefully this will help make the peace negotiation process a more effective one with positive outcomes for women and children around the world.
